Dermatology

Skin Cancer Treatment

The most common Skin Cancers are:
1. Basal Cell Carcinoma - 80-85% of all skin cancers. Basal cell carcinoma affects cells in the lowest layer of the epidermis.
2. Squamous Cell Carcinoma - 10% of all skin cancers. Squamous cell carcinoma affects cells in the middle layer of the epidermis.
3. Melanoma - 5% of all skin cancers. Melanoma is a rare but very dangerous type of skin cancer. It is the leading cause of death from skin disease.
Skin caners can vary in shape, size, color, so any new or changed appearance of suspicious growths or rashes should be examined immediately by a physician. Note: Early intervention is essential to preventing the cancer from spreading.

Advanced Dermatology

Our Advanced Dermatology Doctors are trained to treat patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. This includes the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of problems of the skin, hair and nails. Conditions common among children are moles and birthmarks, dermatitis, acne, warts, vitiligo, insect bites and birth defects. In adults, we treat a range of conditions such as cancers and pre-cancers, rosacea, psoriasis and shingles. We also treat eczema, allergies and other disorders that occur in all age groups, and carefully examine moles or other growths to determine whether they are or may become cancerous. A dermatopathology laboratory is on the premises to process biopsies and tissue for Mohs surgery. Our lab allows our dermatologists to communicate directly with a board-certified dermatopathologist to promptly review the skin biopsy results of our patients.
