The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale has been committed to collecting the work of Cuban artists. This has been the professional and personal passion of Curator Jorge H. Santis, who is responsible for shaping the collection of more than 250 works of art. In 1993, Jorge organized the landmark exhibition Cuban Artists of the Twentieth Century and in 1997 he organized Breaking Barriers an exhibition which spanned three generations and represented the complex cultural combination that is Cuban, African, Hispanic, Spanish, Caribbean, and American art. Unbroken Ties continues that dialogue about contemporary Cuban art.
